About Festival

Festival is organized by Students’ Cultural Centre (SKC) in Belgrade with the support from NGO EUpulse (www.eupulse.org) and Italian Rototom Sunsplash reggae festival.

Reggae fest includes music and other events (exhibitions, video projections and workshops in making afro-reggae jewellery and dreadlocks), etc

Basic idea is to combine international reggae superstars and local reggae artists. Aim is to promote reggae in Serbia and provide support for young groups and artists.

In order to complete reggae vibe program will be mainly performed outdoors, in SKC garden. Additional programs are designed so the whole festival gets world wide atmosphere.

Program in general and exclusivity of Capleton in particular will attract huge number of fans from the whole region and make Belgrade become once again Balkan reggae capital (Jah Jah Belgrade City).
About artists:

Capleton & the David House Crew (Jamaica)
One of the most significant artists from Jamaica and many believe that he is currently most popular figure on reggae scene. Capleton’s shows are very vivid and colourful with distinctive stage appearances. He is known for his culturally and politically engaged lyrics and attitudes. Capleton is the most famous representative of modern roots reggae style. Also known as The Prophet and King Shango.

Jah Thunder (Jamaica)
As his artistic name says man’s got a thunder voice. He is Capleton’s relative and member of the David House Crew. His greatest inspirations are: Capleton, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Burning Spear. He made his first recordings in 1997 for African Star label. He performs opening act for Capleton for 7 years.

Irie Riddim (Germany)
Founded in summer 2003 in German town Augsburg that because of them became also known as Rootsburg. Crew gathered around Emanuel (selector), Mike (selector) and Steve - MC and Vince a.k.a. Vegahphone (singjay) is dedicated to bring back reggae music in consciousness frame. Their parties can be described as „Party meets good vibes”. So far they performed with Macka B, Spectacular, Jah Meek, Mono & Nikitaman, Culcha Candela...

Irie FM (Serbia)
Young and perspective Serbian band started in 2001 as 4 members’ band. Throughout six years many musicians passed through the band and nowadays band consists seven regular members. They play roots oriented reggae.

Mistake Mistake (Serbia)
Brothers Bon (Edi & Ivan), electro pop attraction from Belgrade prepare reggae/dub program especially for this festival. They will also introduce their guests.

Del Arno Band (Serbia)
Band which founded reggae scene not only in Serbia but in whole former Yugoslavia. D.A.B. is the most important and the biggest name in Balkan reggae scene. Audience in Belgrade impatiently waits for their next performance.

Coyote Hornsman (Serbia)
Authentic crossover artist from Belgrade says that reggae is his dearest music genre. He will present his new project Coyote meets Terrortone Sound Production, produced by Jerry Lions from Twinkle Brothers and released by SKC. On this album he demonstrates his skilful trombone playing.

Ohoroho (Slovenia)
Though still very young Ohoroho is one of the most authentic names on Slovenian reggae scene. He founded Dubtafari sound system. Apart from music he is also into reggae design.

Countryman (Slovenia)
New name on Slovenian reggae scene. Representative of roots & culture reggae school.

Waking Dub ex Babylon project (Serbia)
Reggae band from Sombor (town in the North of Serbia) is a novelty on Serbian reggae scene. Waking Dub consist six members trying to make their work meaningful and sensible. Mixed characters and experiences contributed that Waking Dub is experimenting with different musical styles: Drum ’n’ Base, Funky, Rock ’n’ Roll and Reggae of course, to name just a few.

MC Milovan (Serbian Groove Institute) is official mc host of the Festival.
